Dresslink Package

Crop Set & Sunglasses all c/o Dresslink

Here are are a few photos of my Dresslink package. Once again, everything looks just as good as the photos. I'm absolutely in love with the sunglasses. They are so retro chic and go well with dressy and casual outfits. As for the crop set the material is a kind of reinforced chiffon. It's light and breathable, and with just enough give to the fabric so that you don't feel like your wearing a sheet of tissue paper. Now my only issue was that the size medium is a whole lot closer to an x-small. I got the medium because it was the smallest size it came in. So the top fits great, but the bottom is a bit too fitted. I'm most likely going to wind up using the top as a separate, and pair it with some high rise bottoms. Aside from that I was pleased with my package. I will put up an outfit post so stick around for that!

Dresslink Wishlist #2

So we are in mid summer, and this California heat has been out of control.
It's causing me to seriously want to refresh myself, as well as my wardrobe. I could seriously use some mini dresses and high rise shorts. Luckily Dresslink has hundreds to choose from. So I picked out just a few things I have my eyes set on, and decided to make a wishlist. Cause if I can't afford a new wardrobe, I can at least virtually imagine one right?

Now with Dresslink's endless variety of clothing styles, it was a bit hard to stick to a certain look. They really do have something for everyone. Now the first couple of pieces I chose are very "Urban New Age Casual Hippie", and the last couple of picks remind me of  a "Young Romantic Bohemian" Everything on the wishlist is available on Dresslink's website. So if you like anything please do check it out. I've added links under every piece to make it a bit easier for you guys.
Hope you all enjoyed my picks.

Late Afternoon

Dress: Thrifted  Necklace: Mudd  Shoes: Thrifted

My best friend took these photos of me sometime around 6 pm. I'm wearing a dress that was originally a skirt. I found this skirt at my favorite thrift store, and immediately fell in love. The velvet is extremely soft and I love how loose fitted it was, it made the perfect base to up cycle into this amazing baby doll dress. Now these photo's were taken in about 5-10 minutes. I literally just ran across the street from my house and started shooting. The last photo is of my Elliot and I, he was a bit sad cause he said he thought I was leaving him out of the photo's. So I  picked him up and took a few shots with him. I love how real these photos are a visual example of life as a young mother. As much time as it may look like I have to myself, in reality i'm juggling the responsibilities of young adult hood and being a mom. It's definitely not easy but I manage. I've actually been contemplating on a project in which i'll visually express the realities of young mother hood. I want to choose a few young mothers and photo document a day in their lives. I'll even add in a few words from the young ladies themselves. I think it'll be something different, and it'll give people on the outside a newer and more modern perspective on what it's like to be a young mom now a days. I want to get people out of the mindset that young mothers are like some sort of leper's. we're really just young adults with a bit more on our plates. So please stay tuned for that. I estimate it should be ready sometime in the next few months.

Hidden Alleyways

Dress: H&M (similar)  Backpack: Merona  Shoes: Vintage

It was a humid summer day. Walking along the streets of LA, my friends and I spotted a small alleyway right around the corner from this little pizza shop. It Looked completely out of place sitting right there in the heart of Downtown. The shop's located there were all closed. So it instantly became the perfect backdrop for a couple of photo's. I pranced up and down and along the the sidewalk. I felt as if I was walking down a narrow alleyway in some European country somewhere. I loved the romantic feel of the little balcony's lined with lights and flowers. The only thing that could of made it any better is if we'd of stumbled upon this little spot in the evening. It was such a cute little spot, and i definitely plan to comeback to it. I'll come sometime in the evening when the lights are shining and the romantic vibe is in full effect.

Pretty in Paisley

Paisley Print Crop Top and Skirt Handmade by Me.

I don't know what it is about a matching crop set that I find absolutely delicate and feminine. Excuse the fact that my hair is a bit messy, but after spending about 4 hours wandering the streets of Downtown Los Angeles I'm surprised it didn't look worse. This set in particular I handmade myself. It took me about 6 straight hours but I feel it was worth it. It fits like a glove and looks absolutely awesome when I twirl. I paired it with my vintage ankle boots and a brown leather backpack. The look gives me a modern day wanderlust bohemian feel and I love it.

Wander-Lost

"Will you come with me, sweet Reader? I thank you. Give me your hand."
-Howard Pyle, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood

The day before these photo's were taken I had this idea to take a few shot's of my friend's and myself simply wandering around the city in our most casual natural state. We wandered around Los Angeles with no real idea of where we planned to go but we just continued on in the direction of whichever spot looked like a great place to snap some photo's. We passed off the camera from time to time in order for me to get a couple of shot's of me as well. Photos of me in The Los Angeles Public Library were taken by a friend of mine. I loved seeing myself threw the eyes of my friend's, it's like seeing yourself from the perspective in which they think you look your prettiest. It was fun to see all of the caught off guard photos as well, those always wind up being my favorite. Some times, actually every time I take or have photo's taken, I like to be, and I like my subjects to be as completely nonchalant and relaxed as possible. I find no point in forcing a fake plastic smile. All that work just makes a photo look that much more awkward. There's just something about a person being their complete selves, that I find so much more beautiful.
